Perfectionism is a Vice

Perfectionism is often considered a virtue in our society. It is associated with high standards, diligence, and attention to detail. However, the vice of perfectionism lies in its relentless pursuit of flawlessness, which can be debilitating and harmful to one's mental health.

Handwriting is a beautiful example of imperfection. Each stroke is unique and carries the writer's personality and style. While computers and digital devices have made writing more efficient, they lack the organic charm of handwriting. However, perfectionism can prevent us from fully appreciating the beauty of imperfection.

Meet Vixie Wearing My NoteBook Dress

This dress is the antithesis of perfectionism. Its made of scrap paper cut and taped together with household materials. Ashley Taylor Oertel wrote the text on her skirt. Its beautiful in its Chaos. And Vixie herself isn't even a real girl. She is by nature imperfect.

Perfectionism can manifest in various forms, such as the fear of making mistakes, the need for control, and the constant pursuit of excellence. While these traits may seem positive, they can also lead to anxiety, procrastination, and self-criticism. Instead of embracing our imperfections, we become self-critical and lose confidence in our abilities.

Life Is Messy

Embrace the chaos. Life is messy, and so is creativity. The most beautiful things in life are often imperfect, like the scribbled notes in a notebook or the uneven strokes in handwriting. When we embrace imperfection, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and creative expressions. I didn't post on my photography instagram in like a month. I tried something new in my life and it consumed me. I wasn't able to put the same time into my photography that I had previously because i was so used to how I did things that i wasn't able to adapt. I am looking to fix this moving forward. I need to embrace the chaos.

Chaos is Beautiful

The vice of perfectionism can be detrimental to our mental health and creative potential. We must learn to embrace imperfection and appreciate the beauty in chaos. Instead of striving for flawlessness, let us cultivate a growth mindset and embrace the unique qualities that make us who we are.
